Photos from Trip to Chicago with Janet (August 1, 2015)

I arrived in Homer on Friday, July 31, 2015. My hope was that I might win one of the new cars being given away by Firekeepers Casino on that day. No such luck. I believe I gave the casino about $200.
I had wanted to see The Tsavo Lions exhibit at The Field Museum in Chicago for quite some time. Since we had some downtime before heading to Las Vegas, it seemed as good a time as any.
My fascination with the exhibit is more fascination with the story, and that these are the actual skins of lions that have eaten people. I like to think of myself at the top of the food chain, and a story involving people regularly hunted by lions is frightening and morbid.

The exterior of the museum. Janet is visible in both photos.
After the museum, we stopped at the Ikea in Schaumburg. Janet liked the bed with the desk underneath.
We also stopped at a Boston Market restaurant. They don't have any near Homer, and it was a new experience for Janet.
On August 2, 2015, there was a Merica-Fries family reunion. These are some photos that I took as a backup in case the photos taken by others didn't come out.

A rather unflattering drawing that Trista made of me ... I think it was in retaliation for a similarly unflattering drawing I made of here ...
On the evening before Janet and I left for Las Vegas (August 3, 2015), we had dinner with my mom. From left to right: Dave Ashley (me), Janet Ballinger, and Marilyn Ashley.
The parking lot outside Al Sultan (the restaurant where we ate). I've never been in Laughing Panda.
